Right then - we've already seen that real
Kindle 4 news is a little on the thin side. But what about rumors regarding the next generation readers? Oh don't worry there is tons and tons of that...
In no particular order, here's what we think we know about the next
Kindle 4*:
- There won't just be one! Oh no! The chances are there will be two new ebook readers, AND two new tablets released in the next four or five months.
- The readers will be cheaper. Hot gossip news points to a $99 price tag for the basic but improved wi-fi model, and a little more for a new touch-screen version of the most famous e-reader out there.
- The new amazon tablets will also be cheaper than you'd think - around $200 dollars cheaper than an iPad for their 10" Hollywood slate, and even less for the 7" version.
- The Kindle 4 release date should be by mid October.
- Tablets will be released in two periods. The 7" Coyote slate should appear around mid October, whilst the 10" is unlikely to be seen till early in quarter 1, 2012.
*as of Sept 1st 2011 - these things keep on changing you know!
Why Do We Believe These Kindle 4 Rumors?
The reason these particular points make sense to us, is that they follow on from things Amazon has told us this year.
- A tablet (based on Android) makes sense when you consider that Amazon have opened an Android applications store.
- The new movie streaming services would suit a 10" tablet perfectly.
- There has to be a move towards a touch-screen ebook reader if Amazon want to stave off competition from the new Simple touch Nook reader and the latest Sony readers.
- Amazon are buying up domain names like nobody at the moment including kindlewave.com and kindlescribe.com - something interesting has to be imminent.
- The price of refurbished ebook readers has been dropped, and the last time the online giant did that, they released a new model pretty sharpish!
- Who wouldn't want four new hot products to sell for Christmas 2011?
As you can see there are plenty of reasons to start believing some of the more recent tit-bits concerning the next generation of Kindles and new Amazon tablet devices.
